As sad as this story is, I'm not seeing a very compelling reason here why it would lift beyond WP:NOTNEWS and into the realm of things that should actually have their own standalone encyclopedia articles. It's certainly worth mentioning somewhere in Wikipedia — the incident is already covered in both Significant acts of violence against LGBT people and Timeline of LGBT history in Canada, and I'm the one who put it there in both cases — but there's no indication that the event has attained the kind of lasting notability necessary to merit its own full standalone article. • Keep the fact that it has been covered alot because of the "gay angle" of the story and possible hate crime makes this article pass WP:GNG. --BabbaQ (talk) 16:18, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This article as written has to rely on unreliable sources (including the webpage of a fundraising campaign) just to get up to five reference tags. That's certainly not my definition of "covered enough to get past GNG". Bearcat (talk) 04:31, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete (or redirect to one of the articles mentioned in the nom). If all the irrelevant text, non-encyclopedic content (e.g. "Donations can be made through ..."), reported speculation etc was removed very little would remain in this article. WP:NOTNEWS. • Delete. Unfortunately, people are stabbed all the time. That the motive for this particular stabbing may be an example of a hate crime lifts this very, very slightly above the run of the mill, but it's best to simply refer to the incident as part of a wider article on the subject. --gilgongo (talk) 16:35, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
